Traditional Reflexology

Reflexology is an alternative therapy that applies pressure to the feet to help the body restore its natural equilibrium. The foot is understood to contain reflex points that correspond to each organ, muscle, gland and all other parts of the body. A reflex is an involuntary response to stimulus and therefore when 'stimulated' through massage it sends a message through parthways to its corresponding area. Stimulating these points encourages the body to use its own natural healing powers to repair itself and function more efficiently. This representation of the whole body is in the iris of the eye, the ear, on the hands and on the feet. Although reflexology practitioners primarily work on the feet, a hand treatment may be just as beneficial, depending on the individual and the focus of the treatment.
